The mission of the American Council on Martial Arts (ACMA) is to provide martial arts instructors with:
1. A universal reference for teaching martial arts in a manner that is safe, professional and effective, regardless of style.
2. Courses of study and an examination to ensure a complete understanding of the concepts, strategies and tools provided.
3. Resources to continue to upgrade instructor teaching skills, strategies and methods.
4. A recognizable program designed specifically to provide consumers with a universal standard beyond rank and style of the specific education instructors has received, to provide safe, professional classes, for a wide range of ages and skill levels.
5. Periodic revisions and upgrades to the instructor education programs provided, to ensure constant improvement of instructor education and competence.

ACMA Professional Code
1. Above all, the safety and well being of our students shall be the compass for all of our decisions.
2. As martial arts leaders, we shall be the daily examples of the life-enhancing qualities gained from the serious study of those arts: physical health, honestly, self-control, perseverance and the confidence to succeed.
3. We will continuously improve our ability to serve with constant study, and to share the lessons of our experience with our fellow members.
4. To build an ever-increasing confidence and goodwill with the public through poise, self-restraint and constructive cooperation.
5. We recognize that our success is measured by our commitment to selfless service to our students and our communities.
