NAPMA members and all readers of Martial Arts Professional magazine consider the publication a primary source of ideas, strategies and methods to grow their schools, retain more students, increase profitability, improve financial security and create the futures they envision. All readers want accurate, reliable and unbiased information from a source they can trust.

The MAPro staff seeks stories and articles that will inform and educate two primary groups of instructors and school owners.

  • Martial arts professionals who have operated schools for several years and need innovative methods and strategies to improve their business operations. They are also interested in new business ideas and opportunities as well as current issues that affect their schools.

  • Instructors who dream of opening schools, actively planning to open schools or operate a new school (two years or less). New or recent school owners must operate with strict budgets, so they're looking for practical ideas that can be implemented successfully, with little or no expenditure. They also need how-to advice to improve the basic operations of a martial arts school: enrollment, upgrades, curriculum, staff development, marketing, etc. They are equally interested in business and industry trends, and being motivated by authors and articles to be positive, proactive and productive
Before pitching a story to the MAPro editor, be sure to read a variety of MAPro articles, so you are familiar with its contents and are able to propose story ideas that match our editorial mission. Many of the queries received are rejected because the topics are inappropriate for the publication’s audiences.

Submission Guidelines

  • Submit queries or queries with clips only. Full-length manuscripts are discouraged
  • If you're querying an article about a successful school owner, you must include his/her age and some indication of the school's sales, verifiable active student counts, number of locations, and so forth
  • Include your day and evening phone numbers, email address and return mailing address on all correspondence.

Contact MAPro Team members for the appropriate information.
