9. The Black Belt Marketing Report: How to Use Lead Generation Methods to Grow Your
School, Part 2
|
|
This second installment helps to solve some of the mystery of the Yellow Pages and print media advertising, and help keep the costs low. Lead generation methods #10 through #14 (direct mail, flyers, postcards, door hangers/advertising bag flyers and brochures) have multiple uses as well as all being some form of direct marketing. These methods can also be used in a multi-dimensional program, so prospects see your message in many forms and in many places: a postcard mailed to their homes; an advertising bag flyer on their front porches; a flyer distributed at the mall; and a brochure their children bring home from academic school that they received during your school talk.

| 11. The G.O.L.D. Leadership Report: What Is Self-Defense? by Tom Callos |
|
In this month's G.O.L.D Team Leadership Report, Tom Callos asks what may seem to be a simple question, "What Is Self-Defense?" The answer, according to Mr. Callos, is not as easy as you might think; in fact, he thinks it's time to expand the answer to include much more than protecting
oneself from physical attacks. The topic of self-defense should also include exercise, dietary, attitudinal and consumer
issues. You, as an instructor and school owner, are in one of the best positions to be a leader on the expanding
perspective of self-defense. A martial arts curriculum and school provide some of the best resources in any community to help people defend themselves from themselves.
Mr. Callos' Report includes three assignments for you and your G.O.L.D. team to start you thinking more expansively about self-defense.

| 12. Words of the Week: Anger
by Solomon Brenner |
|
As July's Words of the Week, Anger, is one of those core emotions we would all like to control better, and martial arts training is one of the best opportunities to do just that. NAPMA member and author Solomon Brenner helps you teach your students the meaning of anger, from where it springs, how to control it and how to channel it into a positive force. One of the most important lessons is to learn not to speak in anger, without thinking first of what you will say. Although your students should understand that anger is normal, remaining angry for long only continues the harm. Apologizing quickly and seeking forgiveness is how one earns respect. Another of this month’s lessons teaches that maybe the best way to avoid anger is to consider the consequences before anger occurs. |
